　　Brief Synopsis：Out of a population of forty million, there are about 270 000 people in Tanzania that suffer from albinism – which stops them from producing pigment in their skin, hair and eyes. They are often shunned as outcasts and die of sun cancer before the age of thirty. And now there is additional threat of being cut up with machetes and being sold to witchdoctors.

　　Discrimination against albinos – known as “Zeru-Zeru’s” or ghosts - is a serious problem throughout sub-Saharan Africa, but recently in Tanzania it has taken a new twist: many people believe albino’s have magical power. As a result, witchdoctors are selling their body parts for money.

　　The trend in Tanzania has now spread to neighboring Kenya, Burundi and Congo where similar killings have been reported. An albino woman in Kenya had just been hacked to death and her tongue and heart cut out.

　　Filmography：The Crew, consisting of producer, camera woman and audio operator flew to Dares Salaam for four days.

　　They interviewed the chairperson of the Tanzania Albino Society as well as met the families of victims, TAS members, the University of Dar es Salaam sociology professor Simeon Mesaki and various other experts on the issue.

　　We also spoke to the police regarding arrests.

　　We documented the daily lives of people afflicted by albinism.

　　Using a hidden camera, we went undercover and spoke to witchdoctors who revealed to us the bones of deceased albinos and spoke openly about the trade of body parts.
