　　Brief Synopsis: Matsuo Ohno is the man who produced the sound design for "Tetsuwan Atomu", Japan's first television anime created by Osamu Tezuka in 1963. Better known as "Astro Boy" in the United States, the show was the forefront pioneer of Japan Imation in America and became a huge hit worldwide. With his flair for sound creation leaving all those around him in awe, he also frequently spoke as an equal with legendary series creator Osamu Tezuka.

　　Matsuo Ohno's motto was "A true professional is able to make his audience believe, no matter how little effort he actually puts in." Not confining himself to one field, he has produced many types of sound effects for films as well as stereophonic performances at the1982 Knoxville Expo in the States and other large events. These days he is primarily working at an institution for the mentally handicapped in Shiga Prefecture.

　　While showing his contributions to the animated productions "Uchuu Senkan Yamato" (US title: Starblazers) and "Kido Senshi Gundam" (US Title: Mobile Suit Gundam), and his collaborations with Rei Harakami and Open Reel Ensemble, we will peruse Matsuo Ohno's many influential gifts to future generations.

　　Filmography: Born in 1975. His short film Dolmen (99) received Honorary Mention at Oberhausen Film Festival in 2000. His next short films Vicunas (02) won grand prix at Mito Short Film Festival in2002.His other short films were theatrical released, and film critics credited his unique filmmaking as “The Most Impressive New Director of the Year” in 2003.

　　He directed his feature film Pavilion Salamander in 06. In 2009, he made Pandora’s Box (09) based on a novel by Osamu Dazai, and it was invited at the 3 continents film festival at Nantes 2010.

　　His latest film The Echo of Astor Boys Footsteps (10) was released in 2011.
