　　“The School of Art and Design at the University of Salford has over 1400 students and specialises in high quality practice-based teaching, research and knowledge exchange in the creative disciplines. It is a significant contributor to art and design education in the UK, particularly at undergraduate level, and has a distinctive reputation built on productive links with the creative industries and with its communities in Salford, Manchester and the North-West of England. These networks underpin the School’s identity and contribute to its strong employability focus. The School’s research is mainly in new media and management design and there is a strong and growing international dimension with productive partnerships in Europe, East Asia and North America.  The School develops specialist skills which are increasingly applied through cross and multi disciplinary working. In particular, Art and Design shares overlapping academic expertise and provision with the School of Media Music and Performance and has had continuing interaction with the Business School for several years. Cross-university links include the School of Computing through Media City and with the School of Built Environment through shared interests in architecture.
